BLVD HVNNY is the shadow-self of Cito, best known as the frontman of South African bands WONDERboom, El Cantante and Absinthè. What began as a solitary, beat-driven studio project has evolved into a formidable five-piece, with Cito on vocals and keys joined by Waldo Luc Alexander on violin, Warren Leicher on bass, Ryan Greenwood on drums and Martin Schofield on guitar.

Together, they blend electronic foundations with live instrumentation to create a sound that is cinematic, visceral and steeped in melancholy.

The band’s debut album, IX, moves through goth, trip hop, electronica and dark rock, with collaborations including Ashton Nyte of The Awakening, Ross Learmonth of Prime Circle, Bronwyn Leigh Fink and long-time co-writer Erin Alden. Their reimagining of Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds’ The Weeping Song spent five consecutive weeks at #1 on Mix 93.8 FM’s SA Top 40 and was named Song of the Year.

BLVD HVNNY’s visual world has earned international recognition too, with music videos Joaquín and Nocturnes collectively taking eight awards at international film festivals.
