PLUM RELEASES POWERFUL NEW SINGLE AND MUSIC VIDEO "REACH OUT'

An emotional exploration of redemption, faith, and the journey back to self

PLUM returns with their deeply moving new single, Reach Out, accompanied by a haunting and visually striking music video. The release marks a bold and introspective chapter for the band, blending raw emotional honesty with themes of spiritual longing and personal redemption.

Reach Out is a reflective and emotionally charged track that delves into the experience of losing one’s way, confronting past mistakes, and ultimately finding a path back through faith, connection, and surrender. With two voices that mirror one another in confession and support, the song captures a delicate balance between regret and hope. At its core, Reach Out speaks to the power of grace, reminding listeners that even in moments of brokenness, healing and restoration remain possible.

The accompanying music video brings this message to life through a compelling and symbolic narrative. It follows a woman racing to save someone in crisis, moving through fragmented glimpses of what her life could have been. As the story unfolds, a powerful realization emerges, the person she is trying to rescue is herself.

Visually rich and emotionally intense, the video explores themes of inner rescue, self-confrontation, and the tension between despair and healing. It captures the push and pull between isolation and connection, panic and peace, ultimately revealing a universal truth: sometimes the most important person we need to reach is ourselves.

Born from the restless alternative underground of 1990s Johannesburg, WONDERboom have spent the last 30 years doing what few bands ever achieve - evolving without losing their edge. Built on a foundation of raw chemistry and a “music first, ego last” philosophy, the self-styled WONDERbrothers have become one of South Africa’s most enduring and electrifying rock acts.

From early anthems like Never Ever, Jafta Rebel and Something Wrong, to fan-favourite staples such as Green Fever, Africa, Charlie and It’s Great to Be Alive, their catalogue has become a living soundtrack to generations of South African music lovers. Across nine studio albums, the band have continuously pushed boundaries - fusing rock with funk, punk, and afro-dance influences - while never abandoning the riff that built their legacy.

Their reputation as a live powerhouse has cemented their place in music history. From opening for Guns N' Roses at Soccer City in 2018, to representing South Africa on global stages, including a second-place finish at the Global Battle of the Bands world finals in London and a gold-winning performance at the Silk Road Indie Music Festival in China, WONDERboom have proven their staying power time and time again.

With five South African Music Award nominations, countless headline festival slots, and their retrospective release WONDERboom 25, the band’s journey reflects both longevity and fearless reinvention. Now, as they charge towards a new era with recent releases like the album Hard Mode (co-produced with Matthew Fink), the focus remains firmly on momentum and not nostalgia.

Enter WONDERFEST.

Taking place on 25 April 2026 at Sognage, Johannesburg, WONDERFEST is not just a concert, but it’s a full-volume celebration of survival, sound, and the unbreakable spirit of live music.

To mark this milestone, WONDERboom is bringing together a lineup of iconic artists who have shared stages, scenes, and stories with them over the decades. With one band representing each era, the night promises a powerful journey through South Africa’s alternative music history with past, present, and future colliding in one unforgettable experience.

Joining WONDERboom on stage are the Springbok Nude Girls, Sugardrive, Straatligkinders and Van Pletzen (with a mystery guest).

And during WONDERboom’s set, expect special appearances from friends and collaborators including PLUM, Battery 9, The Graeme Watkins Project, and ChianoSky.

As frontman Cito reflects: “Thirty years of WONDERboom and I’m done counting… we’re still here, still shaking our asses, still making songs that mean something to us… The live shows are still the drug - that moment when the room lights up and the crowd sings back. After all this time, it still feels hazardous in the best possible way.”

Fans can expect a night that moves through eras, scenes, scars and soundtracks - a setlist packed with the songs that defined generations, delivered with the same urgency and chaos that made them iconic in the first place.

This isn’t a throwback.
This isn’t nostalgia.

This is a band still in motion who’s louder, riskier, and more alive than ever.
